Abstract
In September 2018, the first specimen of the naked goby, Gobiosoma bosc (Lacepède, 1800), was caught in a mid-water beam trawl from an anchored boat in the Zeeschelde in the north of Belgium. This small goby is a North American fish species and was probably introduced to the newly reported location via ballast water discharge of transoceanic vessels.
