Abstract
In order to estimate the effects of hydrodynamics on spatial and temporal distribution of biological species, a coupling between a hydrodynamic model and a biological model is realized for a Mediterranean zone. The GHER one dimension al mixed layer sub-model coupled with a simple food-web model (LEPM) including heat and momentum exchanges at the air-sea interface allows to study temporal variations of vertical distribution of the properties associated with hydrodynamic constraints and atmospheric conditions variations. This coupled model is a good tool to study the consequences of human impact (eutrophication, greenhouse warming, ...) on ecosystem dynamics. It is able to reproduce the dominance of Diatoms or Flagellates in function of the environmental conditions meeted and in particular light and mixing.
